URL Encoding is a free online tool that encodes Uniform Resource Locator (URL) quickly and easily. Using our application, you can encode URL data that would be transferred and interpreted correctly. URLs are sequences of characters: letters, digits, and special characters. Since URL often includes characters outside the ASCII set, it has to be converted into a valid ASCII format.
About URL Encoding
URL encoding is the process of translating unsafe and invalid characters to a representation that is clear and universally accepted by web browsers and servers, i.e. into a valid URL format. The valid URL format means that the URL contains only valid characters that are specified by the official specifications.
The URL standard can only use a limited set of characters: Latin letters, numbers, and only a few punctuation marks. All other characters need to be encoded. For example, Cyrillic letters, letters with diacritics, ligatures, hieroglyphs should be encoded. The encoding scheme must be unambiguous, reversible, and provide valid URLs. URL encoder replaces insecure ASCII characters with a “%“ followed by two hexadecimal digits. URLs cannot contain spaces. For global interoperability, URLs have to be encoded uniformly.
